Economic theory has always worked on the premise that people make logical decisions without emotion clouding their thinking.
Ummmm. George Bush....Iraq anyone?
Economists have been working on a model which was based on the thinking of 18th century man. Psychologists and neurologists are now examining such thinking in light of what we now know about how the brain works and guess what? They have confirmed that people working in financial areas do not necessarily make logical decisions.
