Anders Behring Breivik committed a terrible crime in Norway, and I would like to start this post by extending my deepest condolences to the victims, their families, and to the people of the lovely country of Norway.
Here in the UK we have spent the past three weeks being regaled with the story of the Murdochs; their many media outlets and the illegal and disgusting approach some of their reporters took to collecting materials on which to base their stories.
The Murdochs of this World are Linked to the Breiviks
Why am I mentioning this? Because I believe there is a strong link. In Britain anyone in public life was terrified of the power of News International, the Murdoch’s media company and its ability to “control” public opinion, ruin careers and even lives.
They got this power because our politicians, police, companies and we the public, gave it to them. Politicians, the police and many other important public bodies courted News International and used them. They employed their ex-employees so that they could conduct their PR in the same way. They tried to become like the organization they all professed to despise. And we, the public, lapped it up.
And having used this power to make themselves a huge fortune, they did not even pay tax on it.

The Press feed off Killers
Killers like Breivik, those who take a weapon and mow down as many people as possible in a short time, know that they will be killed or captured. Often they kill themselves. But they also know that, dead or alive, they will get a lot of publicity and this knowledge makes it all worthwhile to them
These are useless, stupid pathetic, even ridiculous individuals whose only chance of fame is to create this agonizing chaos. They have no talent, no ability, no work ethic and no real intelligence. Combine this with a total lack of empathy and you have a psychopath. What they do have is a grudge, a belief that we owe them something and a determination to collect.
And the press help them “collect” because it also helps the press to make money.
The Press Want us to be Frightened
The press want us to be horrified and frightened at what has happened, because that way we will read more, listen more and pay more for the materials they produce. “Why did the killer do it? Who’s fault was it they could get the tools/ access/ freedom to do it? Who made mistakes? How will the police / politicians / security services stop it happening again?”
It is not just the press. Politicians of all hues and beliefs, military, defence and security bodies trying to bolster their profile and/or budgets, insurance companies trying to sell policies, and those selling personal security. All these people and more benefit when we are frightened.
Laugh at them, don’t fear them
The victims of men like Anders Behring Breivik deserve our attention, complete compassion and every assistance we can give them. But the men themselves deserve only derision, contempt and ridicule.
Think about what would happen if that was the only attention these killers received from us. They could not be used by all those mentioned above to support their cause. They would hate the type of publicity they got, and it would, I firmly believe, stop many of them undertaking these dreadful actions.
Laughing at the perpetrators is not the same as laughing at the victims, and this is a mistake we should never fall into
